Ritchie Patterson is the Helen T. Edwards Professor of Physics at Cornell University's Department of Physics. His research focuses on experimental elementary particle physics, with an emphasis on physics beyond the standard model and weak interactions. Patterson's work utilizes data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to investigate phenomena such as dark matter and the properties of the Higgs boson. He also directs the Center for Bright Beams (CBB), an NSF Science and Technology Center dedicated to enhancing electron beam brightness for scientific research. Patterson has held various leadership roles at Cornell, including Director of CLASSE and Director of CBB.
