Pierre-Richard Agenor is Hallsworth Professor of Economics at The University of Manchester, where he is affiliated with the ECON department. His research focuses on development macroeconomics, monetary policy and international finance, and labour economics. Prior to joining the University of Manchester, he was Lead Economist and Director of the Macroeconomics and Policy Assessment Skills Program at the World Bank and an Economist and Senior Economist in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund. He has also taught at Georgetown University and given lectures in over forty countries. He is Co-Director of the Centre for Growth and Business Cycle Research and offers an annual course on "Macroeconomics for Growth and Poverty Reduction."
